Description
Avaxim is an inactivated hepatitis A vaccine designed to provide long-term protection against hepatitis A infection. The vaccine contains the inactivated hepatitis A virus adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide as an adjuvant to enhance immune response.
Target Diseases
- Hepatitis A: A viral infection that affects the liver
- causing symptoms such as fatigue

- and nausea.
Dosage Schedule
Children aged 12 months and older: One dose followed by a booster dose 6–36 months later for long-term protection. Adults: One dose followed by a booster dose 6–12 months later.

Contraindications
- Severe allergic reaction to any component of the vaccine
- including neomycin or a previous dose of Avaxim. Should be postponed in individuals with an acute illness or fever.
Additional Information
- Provides protection against hepatitis A for at least 10–20 years after the full vaccination course. Ideal for individuals traveling to areas with high hepatitis A prevalence or for outbreak control in communities. Can be co-administered with other vaccines but should be injected at different sites.
Storage Requirements
- Store at 2°C–8°C (36°F–46°F). Do not freeze. Protect from light.
