Description
Seasonal flu vaccine containing inactivated (killed) influenza viruses to help the immune system build protective antibodies. It does not treat active flu infections — it prevents them
Target Diseases
- Seasonal influenza (flu) caused by influenza A and B strains covered in the vaccine.
Dosage Schedule
0.5 ml IM injection annually before influenza season.
Possible Side Effects
- Injection site pain
- redness
- swelling • Fatigue
- headache
- muscle aches • Fever
- mild nausea
- loss of appetite occasionally • Rare: serious allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) — requires immediate care.
Contraindications
- Severe allergic reaction to any component of the vaccine (e.g.
- egg protein
- formaldehyde
- gentamicin traces)
