Description
A sterile liquid vaccine for injection (intramuscular or subcutaneous) containing purified capsular polysaccharides from 23 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae, intended to provide active immunisation against invasive pneumococcal disease caused by those serotypes.
Target Diseases
- Active immunisation against diseases caused by the 23 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae included in the vaccine (e.g.
- pneumonia
- meningitis
- bacteraemia
- otitis media in high-risk individuals
Dosage Schedule
A single 0.5 mL dose administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously. For revaccination in certain high-risk populations: guidelines vary (e.g., second dose ≥5 years later in some cases)
Possible Side Effects
- Common side-effects may include injection-site pain
- redness
- swelling; systemic reactions such as fever
- malaise
- muscle pain
- headache.
Contraindications
- Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to any component of the vaccine or any previous dose is a contraindication.

Storage Requirements
- Store refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C (36°F-46°F). Do not freeze.Discard if exposed to inappropriate storage conditions or past expiry.
